Lost Highway is Attilio’s most enigmatic painting and is believed to be his final work before his untimely death. The painting, almost premonitory in nature, depicts several elements eerily linked to the circumstances of his passing.

Born on July 8, 1952, in Caltanissetta, was the youngest son of Giovanni Blandini and Filippa Fede and the younger brother of Paolo, Richard Blandini’s father. Despite a challenging delivery at birth, he quickly showed a passion for art and songwriting since an early age. His love for painting and music became the defining pursuits of his short but creative life. His paintings were imbued with hidden and symbolic meanings that continue to astonish anyone who attempts to unravel them to this day.
He spent his days working as a medicine reseller, traveling across Sicily in his Alfa car. In his free time, he immersed himself in painting and composing music. His travels to Africa and Germany enriched his artistic vision, providing him with unique inspirations that he expressed through his vibrant artwork.
On a rainy day of December 29, 1985, tragedy struck. While driving on the road from Pietraperzia to Caltanissetta after a long working day, he was involved in a fatal car accident. His vehicle, an Alfa car, overturned, and he was found deceased beneath it with his body crushed under the heavy weight of his own car With no witnesses to the accident, there were no details or information available to understand the dynamics.
However, police investigation revealed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of driving, and for that reason his body had been thrown from the window. The slippery road on that rainy day may have played a significant role in the dynamics of the accident. Furthermore, given his deep love for animals, some have speculated that the accident might have been caused by his attempt to swerve and avoid an animal that suddenly appeared in the middle of the road.
He was only 33 years old.
He left behind a two-year-old daughter, a legacy of art and music, and a family who remembers him with love and sorrow for the life and talent lost too soon.
His only child, Alice, is today a known photographer in Italy. Attilio was also the main artistic inspiration for his nephew Richard, 3 years old at the time of his death.
