Genetic Discovery Connects Gaza and Sicily Through Haplogroup E-FT137267
03 December 2025 - By Richard Blandini
In an exciting development for genetic genealogy, we have identified a fascinating connection between a man from Gaza, Palestine, and my own genetic lineage. This discovery reveals that we both belong to Y-DNA haplogroup E-FT137267, with the Palestinian man positioned in an upstream subclade of this haplogroup.
This finding sheds light on the shared genetic history of populations in the Levant and the Mediterranean, emphasizing the deep-rooted connections forged by ancient migrations. Haplogroup E-FT137267 is part of a broader lineage widely distributed across the Near East, Middle East, and parts of Europe, with intriguing links to historical trade routes, cultural exchanges, and human migrations over millennia.
This connection serves as a reminder of our shared human history and the power of genetic genealogy to bridge the distances between individuals and communities. As administrator of the E-V22 FTDNA project, I am thrilled to add this story to the tapestry of discoveries that highlight the complex and fascinating narratives hidden within our DNA.
